The PC817 is a common, 4-pin optocoupler (also called an optoisolator or photocoupler) that provides electrical isolation between two circuits using a light signal. The integrated circuit (IC) contains an infrared Light Emitting Diode (LED) on the input side and a phototransistor on the output side.
