A hook knife (also known as a scribe knife or draw knife) is a specialized hand tool used to cut brittle plastics and acrylic sheets by scoring a deep groove into the surface, which allows the material to be snapped cleanly along the line. Unlike a standard utility knife that tries to slice through, the hook-shaped "olecranon" blade tip peels away a thin strip of plastic to create a controlled weak point.
