An LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) is a passive electronic component whose resistance decreases as the intensity of light falling on it increases. Often used for detecting light levels in devices like automatic streetlights, they have very high resistance in darkness (megaohms) and low resistance in bright light (hundreds of ohms).
