A raindrop detection sensor is a device used to detect and measure rainfall. It typically consists of two parts: a conductive sensing board (the rain pad) and an electronic control module.
How It Works
Most standard DIY and industrial raindrop sensors work on the principle of electrical resistance:
- Without Rain: The parallel copper or nickel traces on the sensing board remain disconnected, causing the resistance to be very high.
- With Rain: Water bridges the conductive traces, lowering the resistance because water conducts electricity.
- Intensity: The more intense the rainfall, the lower the resistance, which generates a stronger electrical signal
